Texas Education Agency requires Charter Schools to use a lottery system for the admission of students. Applications for the lottery will be open from January 1st to February 28th of the school year applicant is applying for.
The lottery will only consist of names of students who qualify for Pre-kindergarten through Fifth Grade to which the school has openings. Students currently enrolled at TOTMA are guaranteed a place at the school for the remaining years they are eligible provided they are adhering to the policies of the school.
During the lottery, names will be drawn at random to fill any vacancies in the school the last week of March.
The Olive Tree Montessori Academy has an admission’s policy which does not discriminate on the basis of gender, national origin, ethnicity, religion, disability, academic, artistic, or athletic ability, or the district the child would otherwise attend in accordance with this code.
The charter may provide for the exclusion of a student who has a documented history of a criminal offense, a juvenile court adjudication, or discipline problems under Subchapter A, Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code.
The waiting list is comprised of students who are not selected through the lottery process and will remain on the waiting list for the remainder of the current school year for which they applied.
